A Newport man remains in critical condition after a serious collision Wednesday evening with what Newport Police say was an intoxicated wrongway driver without headlights.

A man with fractured legs, arm and pelvis was taken to a Portland hospital by air ambulance Wednesday evening after an intoxicated wrongway driver with her headlights off crashed head-on into his car on Highway 101, according to police.

It's on hotel billboards and real estate Web sites, overheard in restaurants and bars, and on the tips of almost everyone's tongues: NOAA is coming to Newport.
