When housing developments are built, residents expect retail to follow. Why is it, then, that residents in far east Lake County -- Mount Plymouth and Sorrento -- have such limited shopping opportunities? For about four years, the Primerica development group has been trying to win county approval to bring another grocery store to the area.

I'm sick of driving to Sanford or Mt Dora for all of my shopping. What a waste of gas that is. We need a retail center, at least a grocery store more local. I've lived here for 28 years and have been patiently waiting to get more local resources, and I'm sick of the people claiming that they want to maintain the local character. Have they looked at Sorrento lately? Trashy and unkempt is what it it. Thank goodness for Gigi's, at least we have a good local restaurant.
