Hey Blount Co Tax Payer, Just thought I would point out the need for you to go back and finish the education you never finished. Concentrate on spelling class. They start teaching spelling in 1st grade, well at least in most counties they do. I now feel dumber for having read what you posted. You are giving the intellegent people of Blount Co. a bad name. The hay seeds like you should sit down and shut up and allow the smart ones to speak up

To"RWF" It would seem that you and Blount Co. Tax Payer went to the same school. You people need to learn how to spell. As for you and your expert knowledge, The Warrior Fire and Police have always responded to calls in west Blount Co. If you need proof just call the Warrior dispatcher and ask for a readout of past responces. Try and know what your talking about before you open your hayseed pie hole.

I have lived in Warrior for 55 years, Warrior does respond to fire and police calls in the Hayden area, what these people want is a service fir free, what needs to happen if they don't want to pay is Warrior not to respond, when they are laying on the road hurt they will think they had paid a few dollars fir some help

What needs to happen if they don't want to pay is stop responding to the area, when their house or store is burning , or they are hurt laying on side of road they wil wish they had paid. Most people in Blount County are fine people, but all a few do is complain about something If it wasn't the tax, or how unsafe 160 is it would be something else, I have lived in the area for 55 years , never came close to wrecking on 160 , it's not the road it's the drivers,

"piller" It's not advice I'm giving it's the facts, and Warrior has never had any schools. The schools that are in Warrior are now, and have always been owned and run by Jeeferson County.

I am one of those that is boycotting Warrior(along with many of my neighbors).I miss the convenience of these stores but I will shop elsewhere until the mayor wises up.Unfortunately its affecting some good people in a bad way. Warrior needs funding before it dries up and can't seem to find it anywhere else. I have had the occasion to call authorities and I have to say it wasn't a warrior responder.....And for the comment of WB always bitching... If you do nothing .. You get nothing thank god Some people are not afraid to stand up and respond...

Okay, let's start with this.. Why does everyone want to be mean and call others names? Why can't everyone just state their opinion in a nice way? I have lived in Hayden for over 30 years. Yes, Warrior has helped Blount County in the past. No I don't like the tax. The thing is no one does because none of us can afford it with the economy so messed up! I feel bad for the business owners of Warrior that are suffering from this boycott. God bless each and everyone of you! Have a great day and enjoy the life our Lord has given you!

The dispute between the city of Warrior and Blount County has resulted in a proposed constitutional amendment that will go on the ballot statewide.

The Alabama House of Representatives today passed by a vote of 66-2 an amendment to block any municipality entirely outside Blount County from imposing any tax or regulation in its police jurisdiction in Blount County.

The Senate passed the measure 28-0 on Feb. 17, so today's House vote puts the amendment on the Nov. 2 general election ballot.

The dispute started in December, when the Warrior City Council passed a 1.5 percent sales tax for its police jurisdiction, which extends 1.5 miles beyond city limits and into Blount County. Blount County residents protested and unsuccessfully asked the council to rescind the measure.

Residents started a boycott of Warrior businesses, and Blount County District Attorney Tommy Rountree filed a complaint that is pending in Blount County Circuit Court.

In addition, Sen. Scott Beason, R-Gardendale, sponsored the proposed constitutional amendment.

To pass, it would have to be approved by voters statewide and by voters in Blount County.

David Standridge, probate judge and president of the Blount County Commission, said he was happy to see the amendment pass the Legislature.

"There are a lot of people in Blount County interested in this, not just the affected area, but the entire county," he said. "We will need them and the elected officials to use their contacts across the state. It will take a grass roots effort to get this passed."

SO VOTE NO!!!!!!!!!!

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Do a little lateral thinking today and it will work wonders. Don't feel hidebound because you're supposed to do things in a certain way, because this is a great opportunity to try a different approach for a change. Even so, you may have to play down your unorthodox technique when talking to anyone who sticks rigidly to convention.
