The mother of an 11-year-old Long Island girl, who police say was struck and killed Tuesday night in a hit-and-run, is asking the driver of the vehicle to surrender.

Police did not make public the name of the teen, who was struck at Terry Road and Route 347 at about 4 p.m., a department spokesman said.
