Roz Ebert thinks delivering Meals on Wheels is so essential, she's cut back on personal driving to save on gas.
The Lower Saucon Township woman, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels of Northampton County for 11 years, used to go once a month to BJ's Wholesale Club on Airport Road. Now she might go every two months. She shops more in the Hellertown area rather than driving to the Allentown area.
With those cutbacks, Ebert continues her commitment to deliver hot meals to 16 homebound people around Hellertown seven days a month.

For Felix Fargas, it's only a minor problem.
A pizza maker at Mama's Pizza on Main Street, Fargas said the closing of the Gen. Morgan Bridge has made deliveries from the downtown Slatington restaurant a little more difficult, with employees having to navigate circuitous back roads.
But Fargas was among several business owners, business employees and residents who said that -- despite concerns to the contrary -- the bridge closing has not significantly affected Slatington's downtown district. Much of the business comes from local customers who know how to find their establishments amid the road closures.
