In a split vote Tuesday, the Sinton City Council appointed Councilman Eloy Lopez as mayor and Councilwoman Linda Guzman-Alaniz as mayor pro-tem. The 3-2 vote, with Lopez, Guzman-Alaniz and Michelle Soliz in the majority, put to rest a debate that arose last week over how the positions should be appointed.
