Cassadaga American Legion honors fallen soldiers
On Memorial Day beginning at 7 a.m., members of the Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280 paid tribute to the fallen soldiers of the local cemeteries in the Cassadaga Valley area.
A number of communities will be holding Memorial Day services throughout the region.

Memorial Day Parades March On Locally
Several towns and cities across the U.S. have chosen to cancel their Memorial Day parades because of lack of public support, lack of veteran participation or insufficient funding, as well as because the organizers feel that the overall sentiment of the day has changed from a somber day of remembrance to a day of celebration with picnics and such.
Detour into ditch lands woman in hot water
A Sinclairville woman was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after she crashed her car into a ditch late Friday on Route 62, Chautauqua County sheriff's officials said.
Approximately 1:30 p.m. a truck driven by Sheila M. Nash, 70, of Cassadaga was leaving the Shur Fine parking lot making a left turn on to Route 60.

Historical Society Uses Grant For Repairs
The Valley Historical Society was able to repair and update its museum building in Sinclairville recently thanks in part to grants from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation and the R.C. Sheldon Foundation.
Village elections cost $3.70 per ballot cast
While 1,756 voters turned out for the Republican Presidential Primary, there were nearly identical the same amount of voters for the village elections in March.
