Carson City The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All suspects are innocent until proved guilty in court: A 25-year-old electrician from Gardnerville was arrested at 11:41 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of East Musser Street on suspicion of misdemeanor contempt of court.
Bingo Night raises money for SSHS library and leadership
SILVER SPRINGS--About 173 people came out to support Silver Springs High School's 6th Annual Family Bingo Night, which was held on Friday at the school.

County code changes related to fire districts, regulations, approved by Commission
There were a number of questions, but eventually the Lyon County Board of Commissioners approved an ordinance amendment that standardizes some areas for fire districts in the county but retaining flexibility for the district boards for changes for their particular district.

District to start naming process for new Fernley school
The Lyon County School District is expected to start next month with the process of naming the new intermediate school that is under construction.
Lyon Commissioner retreat called successful
Those involved in last week's Lyon County Board of Commissioners workshop retreat in Smith Valley felt that it was both succuessful and gave them a good chance to talk freely.
With some criticism being aired about how the county is handling the new jail issue--including its location--Lyon County Sheriff Allen Viel and other county officials recently spoke about the reasons for their support of expanding the jail facilties in Yerington.

SILVER SPRINGS--An estimated 700 people from communities throughout Lyon County attended a free Flu Vaccination Clinic held at Silver Stage Middle School, which was provided by Carson City Health and Human Services in partnership with Lyon County services.
