Freeze Salaries

The only possible solution is a salary freeze. Increase insurance deductibles. We are driving our productive people out of California with outrageous taxes. We are importing parasites.

Give TALB every thing we can before Sac and Wash bleed us dry. It is a bit too late to pretend that our kids matter but at least we could stand up for them one last time before the Progressive Cabal deal us the final Fatal Blow.

You've come to a proper conclusion. One further thing, where you discuss the "possible contentious negotiations with the teacher's union over possible wage freezes, reduced benefits and other economic issues, the kinds of issues that workers at City, State, and private levels are facing" you are actually raising the issue of injecting what is in fact a dose of reality. If and when those negotiations happen, and they probably will, the teachers will find out whether their union has any real care for the number of teachers who will still have jobs, or whether their only concern is to maintain levels of compensation. We will see whether or not, if in these difficult time, the union is willing to negotiate what will be required to keep all of the District's teachers employed, perhaps by agreeing to some reduction in their own membership fees for teachers who suffer reduced compensation. Wouldn't that be amazing?

Wouldn't that be amazing? No one still believes this has to do with "teachers or students". This has to do with Union Greed which adds countless dues paying Union members from janitors to bloated ranks of administrators. Neither the Teachers or the kids are making fools of us. The Unions are tearing our Schools to shreds for their own selfish purposes.

Honestly, how can you say no to this if you have kids? I hate tax increases more than anyone, but I can't pass up preserving 20 to 1 in K through 3. If you don't have kids, I can see how you might say forget it. I love how the article says $92 is going to break someone. When we're already paying $380 per year to schools? Another $92 is not going to matter much, sorry. No one is foreclosing over that - it's the $5000 a month mortgage!

That would keep TALB at bay for a little while at least. And, remember this is Long Beach hence TALB is under no obligation to improve our Schools performance. That isn't even discussed by the "negotiators" (wink, wink) of the Union Contract. Public Employee Union Leaders are NEVER interested in anything but more Dues which leads to more political power which leads to more, and more, and more taxes. And, the beat goes on..........

I received my property tax notice in the mail yesterday and the amount going to schools more than doubled what I was billed last year. For me that was $400 more than I expected and LB wants to charge me another $92? Absolutely ridiculous. If I have to live within my budget (and now $400 less in it) so should the school system.

Until there is a coherent border policy, as well as a functional system for deporting illegals, NO NEW TAXES FOR SCHOOLS! It's been carpet-bombed by anchor babies since the nineties, the school board refuses to address it, rather they support it. It's their circus. It's fiscally unsustainable. More money will just lead to even higher taxes later. Let them run it into the ground, and call that their legacy.

Blame Mayor Foster for maintaining Long Beach as a sanctuary city for the last decade. Now the anchor chickens are going to our schools to roost, and we don't have the money to continue to support it. Let Mayor Foster handle it. It's a problem of his devising. Don't support his insanity with any more of your money. Vote against this measure.

Stupid voters made pathetic political choices and now we must pay. No one expects our City Hall to do anything positive. No one has lower standards than we do and is more willing to accept failure as our just reward.

If you're out of a job, making your mortgage payment, and completely stretched to the limit, exhausting every possible avenue to sustain yourself via friends, family, credit cards, and if you're STILL short $92 it might as well be a million dollars. The fact is, you'll wind up losing your house. We cannot go on to finance the welfare needs of people illegally in this country, carpet bombing our schools with anchor babies. The time to draw the line in NOW! NO NEW TAXES!!!!

Many of my fellow Democrats are dealing with the massive failure of our Party to run the City and the State like compassionate, caring adults.

Just to clarify, it is not the teacher's union TALB that is behind this. The LBUSD district is behind it and TALB does support it, as it will be best for students to have more teachers and smaller class sizes. It is a TINY tax and won't make or break anyone at about $7 a month. It isn't just for parents either, since better schools means better property value. This is for the students, and yes, it saves some teaching jobs too. Let's keep cuts away from the classroom and support our community.

Just got my tax bill yesterday. Thanx LBUSD for the $499.00 extra in taxes! I guess the good news is it will only last what 20 or 25 years. Now your need an extra $95.00? So my family and I have to live within our budget (which you keep dipping into) but you dont have to live within yours? Just try and get voters to believe the sky will fall and the children will suffer if they dont vote to tax themselves more? I hope people dont buy into the hype this time. The timing of the taxes bill and your campaign couldnt be better. Now people can see how their blind faith cost them last time.

Got my bill too; a whopping 114% increase in the school tax alone! Thanks LBUSD for pricing homeowners out of our homes. No matter how much money you have, you can't manage it, use it effectively, and get proven results. With declining enrollment hovering at 10%, and the drop out rate, why on earth should we give you greedy folks any additional money?

70% of the LBUSD kids are on subsidized meals: Send a bill to the countries of origin of the parent. Send a bill to the fed and state issuers of welfare checks, WIC, unemployment, etc. Pie in the sky, but education should be our most important agenda.
