By the way, the PT got scooped again by LBReport.com .
Seems immigrants (my guess) are stealing manhole covers:

LA Times scooped the PT too:

These candidates seem to be spouting the party line, rather than differentiating themselves from the norm in contemporary politics. That's why Karnette is being run out of office by term limits. The taxpayers are demanding efficient, cost effective government, and our legislators are not listening, nor are they taking the actions necessary to achieve what is needed. I wish these candidates well, but they really need to get the message from the people in order to be successful. In the case of Uranga and Lowenthal, that message includes putting the interests of the general public ahead of the interests of various unions.

"...Lowenthal said that tax laws need to be updated and loopholes eliminated."

That is code speak for tax increases to fund Bonnie Lowenthal's socialist agenda. If Lowenthal has her way, there will be a homeless shelter for the mentally ill on every corner possible and there will no longer be a property tax deduction. Who will be the beneficiaries of Lowenthal's policies other than illegal immigrants?

Don't all the citizens of the 54th Assembly District want their neighborhoods to look like Long Beach's 1st District? With our litter strewn streets, the grafitti ravaged buildings and the grimy commercial corridors (Anaheim, 7th, PCH, Pacific, Long Beach Blvd.) that have been ignored while the City POURS tens of millions of tax dollars into the business centers of other districts.

There's more BLOOD on the ground of the 14th Street Park than there is grass and Ms. Lowenthal is kibbitzing with the City's "Human Dignity Officer" at non-violent art exhibits at vegetarian cafes. That'll make a difference folks...let me tell you.

And who wouldn't want an Assemblyperson who would vote to move MORE registered sex offenders into their constituents' neighborhoods for the benefit of the City's better situated beachside citizens? Both Lowenthal and Uranga come with that feather in their cap.

Lowenthal's gonna run away with this, it's a foregone conclusion. The cabal of idiots that runs this town has already annointed her. Hey, I'm thinking about raising money for her campaign just to be safe. I don't think the 1st District can survive a Bonnie Lowenthal loss in this Assembly election.

I personally have followed Karnette's political life for years. She was my assembly district rep in the nineties and NEVER EVER replied to ANY communications sent her, once she found out I was an INDEPENDENT conservative with views OTEHR than her own. She is a prime example poster child for TERM LIMITS! She is a sorry excuse dyed in-the-wool tax and spend, screw the constituents, demo-crap. She should have been tarred, feathered and ran out of town on a rail!

I am quite sure that the brain dead ones who will take her place will be no different because most latte sipper liberals are cut from the same we are all victims class mold.

Kinda the same as Hussein Osama Obama-nation and Shrillary!

Agreed. Uranga rallied for and supported the "Long Beach 10" convicted in the Halloween Beatings of three women which means she is pro-criminal. What we don't need is another pro-illegal immigrant politician like Uranga in Sacramento looking our for her own selfish interests instead of for all law abiding people living in the 54th Assembly District.

Funny how Jackson claims to be able to appeal to all parties. He actually received less votes in 2006 than the total number of Republicans that voted, and over 9000 votes less than Republican Lt. Governor candidate Tom McClintock did in 2006 in the same district. So not only can he not likely lure Democratic & Independent votes, he cannot even lure those that were already conservative enough to vote for Tom McClintock. Most voters would concur that those who voted for Tom McClintock were looking for a strong conservative that appealed to them.

THen he wastes his one question trying to smear his Republican opponent regarding her ballot designation. Why not ask her about her Long Beach support (or lack there of) and try to establish himself as someone who knows more about Long Beach? Maybe because he doesn't know that much either. I've never seen either one of them at a LB City Council meeting.

Of course, the only reason Lowenthal & Uranga go to those meetings is because they're elected.

I am a registered Dem, but I plan on sitting this primary out. A Lowenthal is a Lowenthal is a Lowenthal and Uranga is a racist...and I am a Latino.

And Betty Karnette, what an emabarrasment- she tries to be folksy and Ann Richards, but if only she had onr tenth of the brains. LB should have retired her years ago

I vote for John Kling. He has the right ideas about fiscal responsibility and isn't in any special interest pockets. Great level headed do the right thing kind of guy.

The real story here is John Kling. He gets my vote for being fiscally responsible, and not listening to the special interests. He can make a difference in this district by spending only what we have to spend and only on what we need to spend it on. If you want good schools, good roads, police and fire protection then vote Kling in November.

Why are neither Lowenthal or Uranga interested in Immigaration enforcement or fiscal responsibility? Do they, like most of the current California Assembly expect taxpayers to continue paying more taxes and "fees" to import and support cheap illegal labor to replace jobs that "Americans are not willing to take" and further reduce services to Citizens and legal residents? Just who is their consistuancy?
