From what Councilman Mike Pellegrino has seen and heard, the neighborhood is changing and he wants to make sure Shrewsbury has a plan in place before that change is complete.

As expected, the Shrewsbury Board of Education voted to move its school board elections to November, a decision that will also allow the board to keep its school budget off the ballot if it falls within the state's mandated 2 percent increase cap.

Expect to find a few candidates for the Red Bank Regional High School Board of Education on your ballots in Little Silver, Red Bank and Shrewsbury this November, and possibly a district budget vote.

Ultimately, the threat of partisan school elections wasn't enough. With Gov. Chris Christie dangling the carrot of budget-free ballots before their eyes, school districts throughout the state have jumped at the opportunity to move their elections from a traditionally low voter-turnout April to the politically issue-laden November slot.
