A police dog named Boomer successfully tracked down a suspect in the sexual assault and robbery of a 28-year-old Nanaimo prostitute on Wednesday night.

Emergency personnel responded to swimmers in the water off of Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach, near Shoreline Drive and Grand Street, at around 1 p.m., according to city officials.

An Alameda man was robbed of his cellphone by another man who followed him off an AC Transit bus, according to the Alameda Police Department.
