Police said the accident happened about 12:25 a.m. at mile marker 89 near Shiprock when a car driven by Glendora Kellywood, 32, of Rattlesnake, N.M., suddenly swerved into the southbound lane in front of a car carrying three residents of Mittenrock, Ariz.

"The kids, preschoolers, were amazed," Ian Fletcher said, as he reminisced about the mission trip he took over spring break, April 4 to 10.

As teachers and students walked by on their way to the cafeteria just before their lunch hour Wednesday, a Shonto Preparatory School student hanged herself from the bleachers at the school's stadium, a faculty member who witnessed the event reported.
