Public graveside services for Arvin E. "Hoss" Hoffmeyer, 79, of Sherburn will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sherburn Cemetery, with military honors by Thomas P. Saxton American Legion Post 356, Sherburn, and Sherburn Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8261.

Every month, Martin County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon sets up gatherings where families of deployed servicemen and women can have fun and talk to people who know what they are going through, said organizer Tam Plumhoff.

A man with dreams of working for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will retire May 1 from a 34-year career with the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

"We check on the grant status every week," Sheriff Jeff Markquart told Martin County commissioners Tuesday.
