Letter: N.Y. missing out on gas-drilling boom
<![CDATA[The Nov. 11 article "Pa.'s gas drilling job figures raise questions" proves a strong point of the gas drilling: Drilling companies do bring jobs to the areas where they work. Personally seeing the buildup of the towns around the New York/Pennsylvania border -- such as Sayre, Pa. -- brings a feeling that our smaller economies could be more productive in New York. This hope of more productivity is a common thought throughout our state, but also brings questions targeted at our state government about why we aren't one of the drilling states. The public needs a statement from our state government explaining why we are waiting to drill, and they need it soon. GRANT LINDHORST NICHOLS
