We go through the merger debate about every 7-10 years. I live in Rocking ham. I live here because I do not want any of the things the Village has.I don't want sidewalks I don't want street lights and I certainly do not want BF police dept.checking to see if I have mowed my grass. I am very happy with our 2 VOLUNTEER fire depts. and I don't have any desire to bail out the B.F. fire dept.that mess belongs to the village of BF. I pay my share of taxes and I do not want to pay taxes for the people living in BF. It is time to bury this issue once and for all.

1 So true. The villagers want to shift the cost of their services to the broader town tax base (i.e. some of what you mentioned but also the luxury of their own government along with water, sewer, etc). When my well went dry I had to get a new one drilled....the town didn't buy it for me.I paid for it. Who in the rural area of town needs their police problems, fire problems, grass/lawn problems, Trustee problems and so on. Townsfolk already pay high taxes to support the mismanaged school system which is burdened by among other things village issues. Villagers with "champagne taste" but only a "beer budget" are the real problem in this whole silliness. |
