Tractors changed the landscape of Kansas

This is one in a series of vignettes celebrating Kansas history. The series' name comes from the state motto, Ad astra per aspera: 'To the stars through difficulties.'

Churning and puttering, tractors rapidly changed the Kansas landscape by the early 1930s.
Gone were the days of the one-horse-one-steel-bottomed plow. Horses were defunct.
World War I had ended and Henry Ford had come up with an affordable contraption.
