Barge strikes bridge in Sargent, repairs under way
A barge struck down a swing bridge in Sargent in Matagorda County. The collision occurred around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, said Andy Brzozowski, maintenance supervisor for the Texas Department of Public Transportation in Matagorda County.

Prison for wife, hitman over death of Sargent man
A woman and the man prosecutors say she hired to kill her spouse are going to prison over the 2009 slaying of her estranged husband in Matagorda County.
