Javier Zion Lopez is Gloria's son and he is devasted for sure, along with many others who loved Gloria madly.

I ask that you please refrain from being mean-spirited about this tragedy, and instead, please reach out to someone you love right now and TELL them you love them.

Afterall, you may never get another chance.

God-speed to one of the greatest people I ever met, and blessings and prayers to her son.

I didn't know Gloria, but she's a lucky woman to have friends like you, Laura. But please--never say never. Ol' Mr. D ain't all he's cracked up to be.

While I'm not conventionally religious, I have reason to believe death is the end of the physical body only. I'm convinced your friend lives on, no strings attached.

Let's hope her little boy--and everyone else who loved/loves her--comes to believe that as well.

She was not just a NM woman, she was an asset to a community of students who will miss her dearly. She was an advisor, a professor, a friend, she will be missed we are praying for her son and her family!

Thanks for the kind words, and encouragement, Dat. You are appreciated.

I believe as you do,(thru personal experience), and so did Gloria. She also raised Zion to believe the same.

The 'chance' of which I speak, is just one more time to tell people that you love them...while we're on this big blue marble together.

The earth is a little less beautiful without our friend/mother/sister/aunt Gloria.

Many people I know are devastated with this tragedy. Gloria must have touched people in a very personal and soulful way. I am hearing kind words of her relationship with her son, Zion, who was a loving part of her whole being. My heartfelt condolences to her son, her neice who was driving the car, and her family in Houston.

In my opinion, Gloria was the best thing that ever happened to NMHU. She was my advisor and not only that, she was someone I admired, respected, and looked up to. She was always there when I needed her, whether it was for school or just to talk. She was very devoted to what she did. I can tell you right now that she will be missed deeply. She was an angel!! And as for her being a mother, all I can say is when I have kids I hope to be as GREAT of a mother as she was to her son. Both are in my prayers. RIP Ms. Gloria. I Love You and will miss you so!!

I was a student of Ms. Gloria's this past semester. I never knew her before, but after taking her class, she inspired me to be and do the best I can. One of the first days in class, I recall her saying "if you are a female, I'm going to be grading you hard. If you are minority female I'm going to be grading you twice as hard."

It wasn't because she was prejudice or racist, it was because she knew what it was like to be a minority female in a man's world trying to pursue a better life for her and her precious son, Zion, whom she talked about all the time.

Throughout the semester, she pushed all of us. She was one of the greatest teachers I have ever had. She also was an advisor, who cared about the people she helped and went above and beyond the call of duty to help those who needed her assistance, and honestly I can't say that for all of the staff at New Mexico Highlands University.

This strong, powerful woman will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the people and their families who were devastated by this accident. Rest in Peace Ms. Gloria Brown-Lopez. I know your son, Zion, as well as everybody who knew you, will never ever forget you.

Gloria was a very up-spirited woman. She loved her son Zion so much and he the same. This is a tragedy for the NMHU community and to all those who knew her. I have had the opportunity to be a friend to her and her son. We had many long talks about all sorts of things. I remember just last week saying hello to her at a Soccer game that her son played and won. I can still picture her in my mind. I will miss her greatly.

My heart goes out to the Lopez family. Ms. Gloria was a very special woman who cared for all those she came into contact with. She was a great mother, advisor, professor, community mentor, and role model who provided her knowledge and time to so many people that are better off from having those blessed experiences. I Thank you soooo much Ms. Gloria for making me a better person and making yourself and zion a part of my and so many peoples lives!

Gloria was a dear friend to many people. I have never met a strong woman as strong as her. She opened my eyes and made me realize that being a female it a great thing. Her advice was great and powerful. Being at her family functions brought us closer together and had many great memories together. I even created a great bond with her nieces. Our great laughes together will always be in my heart. She is with the Lord now. She will be missed.

If this is who I think it is. De really needs to speak to you about the will. I left you a message on facebook. And De has left voice and emails.

Reading the words spoken about the loss of this woman brings back very sad memories. So many of our loved ones never made it back from Alb. or Vegas or Fort or Clovis or Tuc. Those few miles between have distroyed many lives and families. I had to relocate. I could not keep watching people i loved lose there lives.
