New Mexico's top election official decided Wednesday that nonbinding questions about marijuana penalties won't be placed on the November general election ballot in two of the state's largest counties. Secretary of State Dianna Duran, a Republican, said state law didn't authorize the placement of advisory questions on the ballot that only ask voters their opinions on issues.

Santa Fe Police Department has announced the following closures for Fiestas de Santa Fe. The closures will begin Thursday September 4th at 6:00 a.m. and run through Sunday September 7th at 9:00 p.m. Police escort will depart from Peralta Park, 106 S. Federal Place, east onto S. Federal Place, then south on Lincoln Avenue and then cross W. Palace Avenue arriving at the Plaza.
