Why suspend? Common sense again avoided.

The Seminole County School board now needs to reinstate this teacher with a sincere apology and full back pay and benefits. Isn't there an IQ test to be on the board?

With the middle school next door, she needs the gun for safety in her car.

A sensible conclusion. However it seems common sense was lacking by making the arrest.

Teachers who have a concealed weapons permit, should be allowed to carry their guns on school property, especially if you are a middle school teacher like myself.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! The woman was stupid enough to drop her gun in the parking lot and not even notice, she should NOT have had a gun on school property. I dont care if she has a permit to carry it or not. She should be punished for her stupidity. Some child could have picked it up and possibly shot another innocent child. Just like the cop who left his gun in the movie theater. These people need to be held accountable for their stupidity!

How is it the School Boards fault? Just because the charges were dropped due to the State. She should and will still be fired for gross stupidity and leaving an unattended HAND GUN on school property. Good bye!!

It is not legal to have a firearm on any school property. If ANY student or parent/guardian of a student is found to be bringing a firearm onto school property, you know the prosecuter won't be dropping those charges. We all know what a rough area Heathrow is too. Especially those third graders. This broad needs to lose her permit to carry too. She can't even keep track of her firearm and she's teaching our kids? No wonder our society is looking at Obama as a viable candidate.

No, it was and is a crime to bring a gun onto school property. The SAO just does nothing again.

Not sure the relevance of this comment. I figure you're either a racist or just trying to bait people into a fight or both. Vote McCain. 100 years in IRAQ here we come!

so much for zero tolerance. It's a bit hipocritical on one hand when a student is suspended or expelled for drawing a picture of a firearm and then on the other when a firearm is actually present that the state attorney believes it is not a crime. Which I agree but why can't common sense be for all not just for a teacher?

What happened to zero tolerance
for bringing a gun on campus ? If
I lived in Seminole County I would
be asking the State Attorney's why
they dropped the charges? Must have
a woman teacher, If it was a man he
been in jail and the key would have
thrown away.

I agree 100%-would they drop the charges if a child had found it and injured or killed another child/teacher.

I'll try to keep this simple so you can understand it:
The USA, having by all accounts a man such as this as our most popular candidate for president shows sadly how little people actually care about who we put into the highest office in the land. Not because he is black,(He isn't black.) but because his promises of change are as empty as his resume for the job of Commander in Cheif.

Unreal...Did anyone stop to think of what would have happened if the gun went off when it hit the pavement?...Maybe even hit a kid?(poetic if the bullet hit her instead!)...Does this decision mean that she can continue to roll through the parking lot with her gun on the cart, with guns, bullets, money, porn or whatever falling off?
