Man killed in Sanford hit and run accident
Sanford police are investigating a hit and run accident that killed a young man Friday evening on a busy thoroughfare.
The crash took place around 7:50 p.m. along the southbound lanes of U.S. 17-92 in between Lake Mary and Airport boulevards.
The Hispanic man is believed to be in his late teens to early 20s, said Cleo Cohen, Sanford police spokeswoman. His name was not being released pending notification of next of kin.
Police do not have a description of the suspect vehicle and haven't been able to locate any witnesses. Authorities encourage anyone who was driving in the area between 7:45 and 8 p.m. to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477 or the Sanford Police Department at 407-322-4141. Read more
