The mother of a gay Jackson County teenager says an attack on her daughter by classmates was a hate crime, but a detective said he would not classify the incident that way.

State police have arrested two teenagers, including a juvenile, on charges of kidnapping and attempted murder after a Jackson County High School student told authorities that the girls kidnaped and tried to kill her.

A Jackson County man who pointed a shotgun in the direction of two police officers was shot by the officers and was later treated at a Lexington hospital, Kentucky State Police said.

A Jackson County man's son and girlfriend have been accused of faking a home invasion in order to steal money and a gun from him.
