Oh, quit yer whining. There are no illegal immigrants here; Only honest folks who forgot their paperwork. Anyway, we aren't just building a clinic, but a wellness center for healthy eating and meditation. I honor the place where my gardener meets your tax dollar. Namaste bro.

There are many people who live in Marin and have all their lives (white locals) who cannot afford to pay the greedy private medical insurance companies any more, and you will be seeing more and more of them signing up for county medical care. It's the sign that the insurance companies are gouging the public too much, and need to be completely cut out of the health care loop. Unfortunately these greedy profiteers will be with us like leeches for many years, so the county clinics are a very good thing, and we are very fortunate to have them here. Thank you all the generous and wise people that made this happen. |

Paul, you correct that Insurance costs are high but do you know why? Here is a really good example.. http://uk.youtube.com/watch... The inurance companies are increasing costs becuase they are picking up the tab on the "illegal alien" free healthcare. But it's not free, we are paying for it Paul thru higher Premiums. You need to get your facts straight. The illegal alien is killing out country. |

Is this a clinic for illegal Mexicans in the canal that the tax payers will have pay for? Does anyone know?

You don't actually believe that the insurance companies pay even one dime to provide healthcare to illegals do you ? If you do, you have been "hoodwinked" the big insurance corporations. They are paying out millions in fines right now for deniyng claims from their own ratepayers, that is why your rates are so high. |
|
I work in the Healthcare Insurance Industry. Correct, many times the insurer tries to deny coverage of a claim (claims coming from Hospitals for care provided), however, the costs still comes out of our pocket either thru the Insurer (higher Premiums) or the Healthcare facility which bills the Insurer a higher rate for services rendered. Please don't be so foolish in your thinking. Our Healthcare System is broken primarily due to the Illegal Alien problem. But you are most likely a supporter of those which broke our laws by coming here. Which would make your response understandable. |

This "health center" will be catering to ILLEGAL IMMIGANTS!
You still wonder why San Rafael and Marin county have budget problems? WAKE UP PEOPLE AND LOOK AT THE NUMBERS! |

The rewards and benefits of being an illegal alien are so abundant, why in the world would anyone want to become a law-abiding legal US citizen and actually have to transport themselves across town and (gasp!)pay for services rendered? They may be criminals, but they are not stupid!

Dan, if you work in the "healthcare industry" then you must know that the giant hospital chains like Kaiser and Sutter operate on a tax exempt status. They still make billions in profits but dont pay a dime in taxes. In order to continue not paying taxes they are required by law to provide millions of dollars a year in charity healthcare in the communities they serve. They are not, and recently were ordered to start.
Kaiser claimed there was nobody asking for it in Marin, and Sutter was counting difference in the money they did not get from MediCare for their reimbersements for their overpriced bills submitted. Yes this care was for seniors who have been paying Medicare taxes since 1965, and some illegal aliens. |

The courts determined that the money lost on MediCare reimbersements cannot be counted as charity, so the hospital chains were ordered to start giving the required charity or lose their tax exempt status. Sutter Health was a major donor to the new clinic in Marin, it was either start paying taxes or help the clinic. Sutter figured out it would much cheaper to help the county clinic than to start paying taxes.
Kaiser spent millions on TV ads in Spanish, promoting their plans. Also they funded studies on the health of hispanics and determined that we should all start eating more rudabagas, which they advertised on local radio and television stations. The reason our healthcare system is broken is not because of illegal aliens, it it because greedy insurance companies are extracting billions in profits from US citizens, and big pharma is price gouging. The care providers, ie: doctors, nurse practicioners, dentists and nurses are not to blame for this mess, they are also getting burned by the insurance and hospital chains. |
You must also believe in the Easter Bunny & Santa Claus. You are simply another appeaser who embraces lawlessness, ie. Illegal Aliens. You are pathetic and no very little. View this and then please explain to the forum how this has "no" impact on healthcare costs. Please educate us, since you profess to be such an expert in this area. http://uk.youtube.com/watch |

This headline was just begging for a debate on illegal immigration. I don't know why I even looked at the comments. This is just so predictable.

Why do you think that is? You posting answers the question. Cause they are and they do and it's time to do something about it. |

Actually this thread is about the shortage of new doctors for the new clinic, and has been hijacked by people wanting to comment about illegal aliens.
Maybe someone should start a seperate thread about all the problems caused by illegal aliens. I do not support hiring any workers that will work for cheap, I don't care where they come from and if they are illegal or legal, they are lowering our wages and taking our jobs. The attempt to shift the blame about our broken medical care system on immigrants is a crock of d*ng, and a very lame excuse for allowing giant medical insurance corporations rip off the US citizens. We need to eliminate the "industry" out of health care, if we cut out the profiteers, then things will no doubt improve. That is what the county clinic is all about, people can sign up and recieve medical care for a sliding fee if they cannot afford to feed the greedy insurance corporations. There is absoutly no need at all to pay a corporation money every month for nothing but administrative costs and billing, they pay for medical care if needed and if they can afford to, otherwise a caseworker can arrainge for county help, but they still will get basic care if needed. This medical insurance scam is bankrupting not only private citizens, but public agencies as well. All so some executives can reap huge profits and some people have good jobs writing software for creative billing. We need to start trimming some fat, and Dan you are first on the chopping block list, you could collect 6 months of UI and sign up at your local clinic if you need medical. Don't worry, you will have to change jobs- find another gig, and you will, but your medical insurance "industry" is going the way of the dinosaur. |
Seems to me that you are anti Corporations. It also seems you have your facts a bit twisted. Are you a communist? |
|
Sounds like you must be employed in the medical "insurance industry", and I understand why you are quaking in your boots. Don't worry, no politician has enough guts to eliminate your industry, they have accepted too much of our ratepayers money, they all will keep you in the loop for many years by forcing everybody into private medical insurance payments called Universal Health Insurance. |

Dan and others who think the illegals broke the healthcare system: are you oversimplifying? if there is one thing that broke/breaks the healthcare system it is the 3 party payment system. Name another product/service where the consumer doesn't pay the full cost for the product and therefore has no incentive to control costs? And, I should add, where the consumer still needs to consume. We can avoid the post office... In healthcare, the employers are the buyers, the employees are the consumers, and the healthcare providers never know if they will get reimbursed or not, and still they deliver the product/service. And then there are the watchdog organizations that make sure the product is delivered and is of some quality... all without demanding any participation from the consumer who can continue smoking, drinking, overwieght, neglecting their meds. At then, remember that most healthcare is consumed within the last 10 years of life... perhaps it is simpler to say that the elderly and the chronically ill have broken the healthcare system.
