The Draper's own the property. They need money in these tough financial times like a large majority of people right now. What right do these neighbors have to say anything negative about a piece of property they do not own. If these neighbors want to still use the 11 acres scrap the money together and buy it, but if you don't have the money SHUT UP.

Hey dont built on that land ..........Go back and talk with open space and get a price! Then start a pool To make up a reasonable amount ( maybe tax deductable). We dont need anymore houses , Its just Greed to make money on the sale. Be a hero Be the one to save something. look up the hill and say I save that with help of my friends. Once they build you cant go back.
You want a few more bucks or a lot more friends |

"Open Space Showdown?" Typical !
Should read " Communistic County Agency Targets Property Owners" Marin government officals obviously hate or just ignore the U.S. Bill of Rights. Amendment 5 "Private property shall not be taken for public use without just compensation." USC. It does not make an exception for Marin. We are not Serfs residing on the Kings land . |

I suggest the land be bought by a local trust and used to grow marijuana and that money can support our local parks.

Of course he can sell to a developer and that developer who dosnt give a cr-p will degrade San Anselmo just alittle more.For what ....MONEY... |
||||
|
When will private property rights return to this County....if ever?
|
||||

Greedy hypocrites.
|
||||
Oh come on, Come on! A "developer " is just a tired catchphrase you are using to demonize the owners . "Developer" is Leftist new-speak for any property owner who wants to build. Pay the owners a fair market price and the Government can do as it pleases. |

" health-related "life-changing" events."
hmmm, just speculating, but maybe if there was affordable health care in this country this debate wouldn't be happening. |
||||
You have a good point. |
||||
Did you read the story? The owner WANT TO SELL the property. Too who? Radio talk show host,Hair dresser,Bobsled team or maybe a Developer.Please tell me why "HE" wants to build. There,s that money thing again. It the owner who has to do the right thing. |

1) 950k from the county was a very good offer; especially these days. Just greedy IMHO not to take it.
2) Duh your neighbors are mad that there would be home developed here. 3) We don't need homes, especially on ridges! ; there are many properties of ALL types currently for sale... and taking price cuts... 4) We do need more open space. Let's hope that they regain their senses and that they and the county can do a decent deal for all concerned. Though sounds like the county, having been spurned, is just going to wait 'em out. Who can blame our local govt officials who are using our tax $? |

I take it you're typing away from inside some type of structure. Someone once upon a time had to build that structure. And most likely get past morons like you to do it. |
||||
Of course we don't. You've got yours. |
||||
It's called the American way. |

Not really I still live at my Mom,s |

Well, you might be in the market in the future. I hear there's some good land out around Sacramento Rd. might be opening up. |

It's not a good price for 11 acres in San Anselmo that really is zoned for housing. It might be a good price for a property where zoning is ignored to be politically acceptable. Is there another residential acre in San Anselmo that's on the market for 86K? So? They'd be mad if you put in a parking lot for open space access. I bet development would happen in the future, when prices recover. How many acres of open space does Marin have per capita? What you're really saying is let's do no more development adjacent to existing cities on private property to preserve the current aesthetics. I hope the county doesn't diminish the property value by manipulative restrictions or delaying tactics. There's no spare county money for open space. Get a donor or get out of the way. It's not a public parcel. |

Seiously? A property OWNER has to fight with his neighborhood to sell his OWN property to a (gasp) developer? Umm....last time I checked we still live in a free country.....but apparently it's not going to be for long with all of the socialistic/anti capitalism comments shown here. I certainly hope that they get exactly what they want for the property. It's theirs to do what they please with it. Here's a thought.....why don't the ones that are opposing this get together and purchase the property as a group and turn it into their own private openspace. Then everyone would be happy. It's called common sense people...try it some time.

Seems to be a serous conflict of interest here. County planning commission is going to determine what can be built here to drive down the price so the County can buy it for a cheaper price? The Drapers have been tremendous stewards of that valley and I hope the community will support their modest proposal.
