Shore Transit Announces Route Changes

SALISBURY , Md.- New routes for Shore Transit will go into effect early next month, the Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland announced Monday. Shore Transit provides public bus transportation to Wicomico, Somerset and Worcester counties year-round.

SALISBURY , Md.- Authorities are investigating a weekend fire that caused approximately $150,000 in damage to a poultry house in southern Wicomico County. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze occurred shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday at the 35-foot by 320-foot structure located at 27421 Riverside Drive Extended in Salisbury.

Salisbury Man Arrested for DUI After Berlin Crash

Maryland State Police arrested a Salisbury man for driving under the influence after they say he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and crashed into a roadside ditch. Troopers responded to the area of Libertytown Road west of Narrow Branch road for a reported vehicle in a ditch at 10:17 Saturday night.

An outspoken Peruvian opponent of illegal logging and three other native Ashaninka community leaders were brutally slain a remote region bordering Brazil, tribal authorities said Monday. The activist, Edwin Chota, had received frequent death threats from illegal loggers, who he had tried for years to expel from the lands for which his community was seeking title.
