Marion County Sheriff's Deputies say 20-year-old Zachary Jenidi of Evergreen Drive in Centralia was injured when he lost control of his cycle on loose gravel on the Selmaville Road at the Red Stripe Road intersection southwest of Salem. Jenidi crashed into the roadside ditch. He was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of injuries. The wreck occurred just before five Saturday evening.

Two people are headed to prison after entering guilty pleas in Marion County court.
A 49-year-old Centralia man has been transferred to a St. Louis Hospital with head injuries after apparently being attacked in his home early Tuesday morning. Centralia Police say Steve Goodin of the one-thousand block of South Elm woke up around 2:45 yesterday morning when he heard someone inside his home. Police report Goodin picked up a baseball bat and went to investigate and ended up getting hit in the head himself. Goodin told police he didn't know the person who struck him. Goodin was initially taken to St. Mary's-Good Samaritan Hospital before being transferred to St. Louis. Police are continuing their investigation.
Four people are headed to prison after entering guilty pleas in Marion County Court. Two were sentenced on drug charges. 25-year-old Nicolas Worley of Oak Street in Sandoval received a three year prison term for unlawful possession of a meth precursor. A second count of possession of meth manufacturing materials and unlawful use of property were dropped as part of the plea. 21-year-old Mario Roby of East Kell in Centralia received two years in prison for possession of less than 15 grams of cocaine. 25-year-old Dustin Meseke of East Oglesby in Salem received a five year prison term for attempted residential burglary and residential burglary to his neighbor Charles Miller's home in September of last year. 55-year-old James Gelsinger of South Sycamore in Centralia was sentenced to 18 months in prison for felony domestic battery to Cynthia Ward of Mt. Vernon. A second domestic battery charge was dropped as part of the plea.
An Iuka woman lost her home to fire Monday morning. Iuka Fire Chief Leon Duis says Elizabeth Springer of 500 North Main had left to visit a family member across the street and about a half hour later smoke was spotted coming through the front door.
Son of Salem Hospital President Killed in Farm Accident
A farming accident in Washington County has claimed the life of 28-year-old Nick Rennegarbe of rural Addieville. The son of Salem Township Hospital President Richelle Rennegarbe was killed Monday morning when apparently losing his balance and falling from the top of a large grain bin into the grain below.
The Marion County Sheriff's Department is investigating a burglary at the Clyde Bierman home on the Walnut Hill Road in rural Centralia. A door was kicked in, but nothing was apparently stolen.
