In the Ruidoso and vicinity emptying the area in case of a wildfire would be very difficult and would depend on the wind directions. You basically have 2 ways out of the area. Up the canyon or down the canyon. A fire starting on a hot windy day that gets into the slopes around the town would be a major disaster.
