Gonzalo Cano, age 77, of Kermit, passed from this life on Sunday, December 11, 2011, in Kermit, TX.

At about 5 a.m. on Saturday morning, Officer Plato was dispatched to a disturbance call in the 600 block of Ruidosa.

Even though the most rugged piece of the Pinto Canyon Road, which winds through the mountainous Chihuahuan Desert northeast of Ruidosa, does not appear on many maps, the rocky thoroughfare occupies a cherished place in regional lore.

At about 12:29 p.m. Sunday, Officer Carroll responded to a call of a disturbance in the 600 block of Ruidosa.
