This wont work. I wish they would put the 1% back on the ballot. That is the only fair school tax that I know of....

You can't be serious! The first one didn't pass so what is the answer...put on another levy with a request for even more money. This seems to be the answer to everything anymore! Don't you think that if everyone else is strapped for cash that they can't afford to pay another $800 plus a year for a failing school district? You should have done something effective with the money when times were good to ensure that it was there when times were bad, that is what the rest of society has been forced to do.
Government answer to any problem = more taxes! |

Unfortunately, there isn't enough business to pull taxes from since there is not a lot of real industry in the area, it puts all our farmers on a strain. Everything being built in the area is subdivisions and convenient stores, no real businesses whose taxes would do us good, just the local yokels who can't afford it anymore than the rest of us. It's sad to see anyone vote no for education, especially since it's the most important aspect in a global economy...it seems that state standards are raising (ACT raises its expectations every YEAR!), colleges are raising the bar, the world is competing for the top students to lead the world and yet schools like LM all over Ohio and the nation are cutting classes and the value of education is being depreciated because 1. there is no money to support us and 2. people less educated in the region to not appreciate the true value of education.
Selfless teachers are agreeing to a lower health care plan in their contracts to conserve as much money as possible for classes, for us the students. It's disapointing to see the entire district being blamed for the bad timing on the parts of few. Perhaps replacing the bum super intendant could strike up some new ideas? The school has received the "making your tax dollars count" award two years in a row- saving money at the cost of teachers' jobs! some award, everyone is suffering from it. It's not some scam to earn more money to feed the wealthy or something, there's just NO OTHER WAY to earn it. we're already cramped with 40+kids per classroom, vote for the damn levy or you're saying you don't mind if your kid gets a shitty education with even less individual attention. -LMHS 1010 senior |

I am telling you that "the 1% of your salary" tax would help save the school district. It worked for a neighboring district (Goshen) Why not try it instead of a 17 mill???
