Storm brings flooding after dumping 5.2 inches of rain in southeast Michigan

<![CDATA[WARREN, Mich. (AP) -- A storm has dumped more than 5 inches of rain in parts of southeastern Michigan, flooding streets and highways and leading state police to urge drivers to stay off all expressways in metropolitan Detroit. The National Weather Service says 5.2 inches of rain fell Monday in the Detroit suburb of Warren. It says 4.6 inches fell in Romulus and 4.4 inches in Wyandotte. State police Lt. Michael Shaw says drivers should "avoid non-essential use of the metro Detroit freeway system." He says all area expressways in the area are flooded at different points and says it's hard to judge the depth of standing water. The weather service says the Lower Rouge River was 1.86 feet above flood stage in the Detroit suburb of Inkster at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
