This could very well be true. I have worked in the area in the past. I have witnessed from a distance a fairly large animal with a long tail moving in the bush from view point on more than one occasion. Both sitings were early AM .I shared my story with a co-worker on the second siting.Since then I have been watching the Animal planet to educate myself if i should encounter a cougar up close and personal!! There are a decent population of Jack Rabbits in the area?>? There are Rattle Snakes in the area also!
