Former Hawkins Co. judge facing multiple theft charges

Former Hawkins County General Sessions Court Judge James "Jay" Taylor, 41, of Rogersville, is charged with 36 counts of theft more than $500 and less than $1,000, three counts of theft over $1,000 and two counts of theft less than $500. Taylor resigned as judge in May, after accusations of judicial misconduct.

Hawkins County commissioners criticize schools for taking hot lunch away from student

ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. - A Church Hill student having his hot lunch replaced with a cheese sandwich and milk because he didn't have enough money to pay for it was an "unfortunate situation" that hopefully won't happen again, Hawkins County Director of Schools Charlotte Britton said Monday.

Cherokee High students charged with breaking into school

According to Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson, they were notified about a burglary and vandalism at Cherokee High School in Rogersville on May 5. The suspects broke into an office in the vocational building and unplugged a video surveillance computer.

Vandals cause thousands of dollars worth of damage at Cherokee High School

Administrators at Cherokee High School in Rogersville hope a $1,000 reward will lead to the arrests of the people who burglarized and vandalized the school over the weekend and caused nearly $5,000 worth of damage in the process.
