New restaurant to fill historic Franklin Street building
A Roanoke developer has purchased the former Morris Furniture building at the corner of Franklin Street and Claiborne Avenue in Rocky Mount and plans to renovate the space for a new restaurant. Phillip Bane has hired an architect to design a plan for the renovations, which will be done in two stages.

Rocky Mount man faces up to 40 years for selling cocaine
The commonwealth will request that Holland pay $430 restitution to the sheriff's office for the money used to purchase the drugs during two controlled buys on Jan. 16, Deatherage said. During the first buy in the parking lot of an apartment building on Pendleton Street in Rocky Mount, Holland agreed to sell 2.5 grams of cocaine for $230, Deatherage said.
Rocky Mount man to serve 2 years for selling meth
Danny Lee Wray, 45, pleaded guilty in June to one count of distribution of meth, while three additional charges -- manufacturing meth, possession of ingredients to make meth and possession of meth -- were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. Wray was also sentenced to three years probation and ordered to be of good behavior for 12 years, according to Franklin County Commonwealth's Attorney Tim Allen.
