ROCKLAND, Mass. -- A police cruiser was wrecked in a collision with another car in Rockland Thursday afternoon.
1912 capsule opens Old Abington tricentennial
Fifty residents from three towns that composed Abington before their late 19th-century split eagerly awaited the opening of a 100-year-old time capsule Sunday afternoon, but when the sealing wax was broken, the red twine snipped, and the brown wrapper removed, the contents were a little disappointing.
The annual patriotic art contest of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars is on, with the Rockland chapter soliciting entries from students in grades 9-12. The deadline for submissions in the national contest is March 31.
Mass. Firefighters Accidentally Spark Blaze at Warehouse
Chief Scott Duffey said an additional ladder truck was sent to 136 Weymouth St. at about 10 a.m. Thursday to help put out the fire, which occurred when sparks from a saw caused insulation to catch fire.
