A new exhibit at Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods, 21850 Riverwoods Road, Riverwoods, captures the history of the place in the works of two photographers with personal ties to the site, one an amateur and one a professional. Brushwood Center Executive Director Sophie Twichell asked nationally renowned photographer Edward Ranney, known for his artistry depicting the remains of ancient Peruvian cultures, to show his works at Brushwood.
Ex-Smashing Pumpkins drummer relists Riverwoods mansion
Former Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin last week placed his five-bedroom, 10,646-square-foot mansion in north suburban Riverwoods back on the market for $1.75 million. Chamberlin, 50, who was with Smashing Pumpkins from 1988 until 1995 and 2006 until 2009, most recently was in the band Skysaw, which he left in 2012.

About 50,000 ComEd customers were without power this morning after two waves of powerful storms driven by a cold front downed trees and knocked out power to 174,000 customers across the northern Chicago area Friday afternoon. Most of the outages were reported in Elgin, Palatine, Hoffman Estates and Arlington Heights, where dozens of trees were damaged by winds that gusted as high as 80 mph, according to WGN-TV's Chicago Weather Center.
