Child finds meth in mom's jacket, turns over to authorities

This breaks my heart..I hope the child has some decent relatives to go live with.

I can't believe that some other town besides Oroville has Meth.. I was pretty sure only Oroville had tweekers after reading what people have to say in this forum. You know, Oroville has all the Meth and only out of town kids cause problems in Chico....

Chico has as many tweekers, druggies as oroville or any where just go to the parks and in town at the plaza or surrounding areas.I hate to admit but its here too. That had to be tough for that poor kid but he did his parents a favor. Like "anita" said hope he has other family to take of him.

Thompson has been a scum ball all his life. Any women who would get involved with him shouldn't have custody of children. Who knowns what that child was exposed too. Hopefully this will be his 3rd strike and we the citizens of Butte County won't have to deal with him any longer.

It's all in the program, get people out of South Oroville and spread them around the county.

Wait till we install Social Justice.

I know this woman, and she is NOT a bad person. She is a foolish person, and it certainly shows. But she is a good, kind hearted woman who made some terrible mistakes with her life. I am so sorry for her son, he is a nice kid. I hope with all of my heart that Dee gets straight, takes care of business and gets her son back as soon as possible. I know she loves him, and does take very good care of him other than making this very stupid, regretable mistake. Good luck to Dee, and your family.

After a few months in foster care, the kid is going to wish he handn't said anything...

Sorry, but keeping meth under your child's bed does NOT constitute "taking good care of him (in reference to her son)." And, the fact that she let a felon into the house shines a light onto her repeated BAD judgement. If she really loved her son, she would not be doing meth in their house and living with a felon. I love it when people always justify someone's bad behavior with, "but she/he is such a nice person" or "but she/he have always been a good parent." If you were nice and a good parent, you would not do these sorts of things. Stop enabling these losers. Let's as a society expect a little more from people. I do wish this brave young man all the luck in the world. He's gonna need it.

I agree with EVERY word you said.

Man, I just hope the poor kid can have a decent place to stay and at least a glimmer of hope in the world to be something better than what he comes from. This is so sad.

Sad story,.. BUT getting busted,.. (by your own kid no less) might be the best thing that ever happend to this family. I understand that we're all human and therefore we ALL make mistakes and do stupid things (this was a BIG STUPID one) BUT,.. my hope is that this kid learns that although this isnt going to be easy on him having to go to foster care, its probably a lot better than what he was living with. The parolee goes back to prison where he belongs, mom is forced to pull her head out of her ass and be the parent she's supposed to be and life goes on. I'm sure this took a lot of courage for this kid,.. he's old enough to know that this stuff ruins lives and that although he should have never been put in this position in the first place,.. it's what needed to be done for himself as well as his mom. I'm proud of him :)

Blaming these to addicts makes everyone who condemns them saintly and a pro-active community activist that donates hundreds of hours annually to reduce drug addiction and promote drug prevention so the child and the thousand other just like him can grow up and break the chain of addiction. The police did not find the addicts, dope or child abuse, it was brought to them via the child. Calling the addicts names is rather pointless, what about the thousands that remain using in Northern California the u walk by on a daily basis and u are as clueless as the cops that they are meth addicts. If u due recognize them as addicts do u call them names and tell them what scum they are or just tuck tail and keep your mouth shut?

Wouldn't you say that makes them horrible parents? Addicts or not, they still have kids that they are responsible for as parents--regardless of whether or not they heed their responsibilities.

Like if I adopt a puppy and don't feed it or walk it. I'm still a pet owner--but a horrible pet owner.

I also AGREE with your statements. Being "a such a nice person" is often a cover for "what goes on behind closed doors."

Would you say that all other non addict parents are great parents? What do u say about all the millions of lousy parents who are not addicts. Calling someone a good parent because they do not use drugs is over simplistic. I say that all using addicts are incapable of being a good parent. Addicts who do not use can be the best parents.
