What about all the other "eye-sores" in the city that exist because of stores going out of business? I can think of a few... Who the HECK cares if the old Wal-mart is left empty, unused, abandoned, dilapidated, and what have you?? It's not exactly in a gorgeous part of the city anyways. Besides, it won't be that much different than the dump that sits there now attracting low-lifes and tweakers and the rest of the dregs of society. At least if the Supercenter is built I can have a larger, nicer venue to do my shopping at as I am forced to stare at these derelicts.

Citrus Plaza 2, Mervins, H&E, Tom Bell, Redlands Mall, SantaFe Depot, future Hatfield Buick site. Are you kidding? Your worried about Waldo Mart? How about making it into another Mega Spanish Grocery? Oh yea, forgot. wrong side of the freeway for City of Redlands

One thought, Why couldn't they have taken over Food For Less and convert the building to a SWM?

I agree, and I have repeatedly stated that redlands needs to bring in positive businesses to help lift Redland up. The problem is that the city council can't see through their desperation and greed, so they settle for less than what's best for the people of Redlands. Thanks for saying it too. At least now I know there is one other person that understands what you stated.

Wal-Mart's idea of reuse comes in many forms from 99-cent stores to thrift stores. Regardless the place will be a crime-infested sewer (which is not much different than it is now with Wal-Mart there). Redlands should be selecting and pursuing the retail that enhances the community instead of treating every offer as some retail savior of our economy. Redlands could have better if the City would go out and get them.

The signal on Barton road at Bellevue is not functioning properly. The green light was barely visible. The signal on the right side was working fine though.

If you look around Redlands you'll see that my department was among the first to leave behind an abandoned shell. Block by block, I'm redeveloping this city in my own image. Mervyns, the Mall, Nevada Street, Ford Street, WalMart, my airplane flies over my domain. I push DARE and dump GATE.

Gotta have crime so we got someone to chase. Gotta have drugs, so we got someone to bust. Gotta have; Gotta have.

I gotta have $412,000 which is what I cost the city. Let no one in Redlands feel safe because I gotta.

I'm Chief Pudge Beerman. And I approved this message.

I think you've been drinking too many cervezas. What empty shell are you referring to? The mold infested, unsafe Safety Hall? As for the rest, I think you are full of shiite.

You got it. I stood by and did nothing to save Safety Hall because I was lobbying for a Justice Center - TA DA!!!!!!!!!!

More crime = more me.

Debra - I'll challenge you to a Segway race any day. How 'bout we start at the Redlands Historical Museum sign, circle the Mall three times and finish next to the Parking Structure on Citrus Ave?

If you win, I'll give you another ride in Air 10. If you lose, you ask Council to increase my compensation to $425,000 a year.

There is no good use for an old Wal Mart building--I know this because there's no good use for a new Wal Mart building either!

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Taurus

Everything seems to be getting under your skin at the moment, but this is no excuse to lose your temper, and you know it. Better by far to be discreet and plough on steadily, without looking to the left or right. If you keep your feet on the ground and don't get discouraged, there are definitely fair winds that will blow you along. It's just a question of finding the right balance between confidence and commonsense.
