Hinds County administrator, sheriff inspect detention center
The Hinds County administrator and sheriff walked through the Detention Center Thursday to inspect the ongoing repairs that have been made to the aging facility.
"My uncle meant a lot to me and our family. He was probably one of the most family oriented men I know," said Schlender's nephew, Kyle Berck.
Raymond resident wins top HCC employee honor
Hilton Dyar of Raymond, dean of the Vicksburg-Warren Campus, was named the 2012 3E winner at Hinds Community College's annual employee awards.
The brunt of the county's finances, 56 percent, is devoted to public safety and to court and legal services, said District 3 Supervisor Peggy Hobson Calhoun.
Copiah-Lincoln Community College has announced its cheerleading squad for 2012-13. Rankin County members include: returning cheerleader Mario Rodriguez of Richland; new cheerleader Carlee Jenkins of Pearl; and mascot Jana Wedgeworth of Braxton.
