"“It costs more, but we did what it takes to design a plant that will control all the elements that would impact the environment and the neighborhood,” said Leung."

Huh? Go figure that.

i heard an older guy that worked the plant told arpa that the turbine was junk from the get go when first installed .
so they spent many millions around this turbine and just said he was a disgruntled ex-employee.
was this put up for bid?
who's pocket was lined?
did it blow up the other day?

The older turbine is as you'd expect something built in 1971. Good steel and like the cars of that era built to last. You were informed incorrectly.

heard that it blew blades trrough a steel wall a while back.
1971-2009= 28 years
i was told at one time the life of a turbine is less than 20 years expectancy.
Raton's plant worked in excess of that due to the efforts of the plant managers in keeping all maintanence their #1 priority. it was good from the get go.
Raton should have had plans to build new unit the day that unit went on line.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Sagittarius

Be careful about what you eat and drink today, my prancing Archer. Your body is in a sensitive state, so be well advised and steer clear of anything that might upset you, or to which you're sometimes allergic. Avoid anyone who's a one-man germ factory, in case a few bugs happen to jump out and over to you. Right now, you could do without it.
