Crews with the Dona Ana County Fire and Emergency Services Department spent several hours Tuesday dousing a nine-acre brush fire near Radium Springs, prompting a reminder from the fire marshal to use caution during dry conditions and a windy spring season.

Volunteers from Las Cruces and surrounding areas are needed to pull thousands of salt cedar seedlings and remove hundreds of feet of barbed wire fence at Broad Canyon Ranch next weekend.

The Caballo Soil and Water Conservation District will host a mil levy election on April 24 for all registered voters within the District boundaries.

Hispanic leaders from throughout the state have banded together to call for congressional leaders to enact federal legislation to protect public lands in southern New Mexico, such as the Organs; the Robledo Mountains, near Radium Springs; the Potrillo Mountains, and Sierra de las Uvas.
