We have to watch our kids better than this.....
If it takes neighborhood to raise a child, we all better get to know our neighbors!!

The parents were responsible for teaching this child, not a neighborhood. The fact that a 13 year old has the freedom to chat on an internet w/o her family knowing, then meeting with someone, then having sex at that age, is a problem with her parents. Way too much freedom, and if the girl wasn't happy, why didn't she tell her parents after the first sexual encounter? She waited until she got caught by her parents, then came clean with them.

First of all remember she is a child and yes the parents should be more involved that is why society is like it is parents don't want to parent anymore. They want kids but they put adult things on them way to young and look what happens. My kids have no privacy under my roof once you move out and are an adult yourself then they can have privacy but not until then. People tell me and my husband that we are over bearing but if your not look what happens.

If the man pleads not guilty to these charges, he has a good chance at beating this unfortunately because it has already been proven that the girls credibility is 0 since she admitted to lying about her age. Some fast talking lawyer will pick up on that and have a field day.

Why don't parents today know where their children are at all times? Especially at age 13, I mean WTF!! Wake up parents, and start doing your job!!!!!!! Don't become a parent if you don't want the responsibility of putting your children first.

Just because the girl said it happened doesn't mean it's true...some teens will say anything to get what they want, i.e. out of trouble, attention, etc. Is there any evidence that this happened?

Blame

I'm not sure this guy deserves all the blame here. At his age with the way younger girls look today it doesn't take much to get yourself in a whole lot of trouble. I blame the parents.

Now I am not defending this guy. BUT isnt if she 17 and he is 20 that is old consenual. I know she lied about her age but how the hell is that guy going to know that. Now if he did and still went on with it then give him the most severe penatly that they are giving those two women in Lower Makefield. Same type of crime

She told him she was 16 and he told her that he was 17. I guess we all need our birth dates printed on our foreheads at birth.

You are a retard...You can take away the computer, turn off the TV and unless you are with your kids every minute they can go off and have sex with ANYONE... you either don't have kids OR think your kids don't do things behind your back !!!

I take my comment back this guy lied about his age then he more than likely new what the heck he was doing. I read it wrong. But still hold my belief he should be charged just like those women from Lower Makefield.

I happen to know that this jackass did continue to carry on the relationship after finding out she was 13. Not only that, he was hitting on her friends that he already knew were 12,13 and or 14.

All of the charges and a Judge gives him unsecured bail. So he gets to go home and "play" on his computer some more until he has a trial for these charges in a few months!!!

First of all, I agree that we as parents MUST monitor our childrens behavior and online activities...BUT, you can't be withn your child ALL the time and you have to constantly remind them, instruct them and educate them relentlessly of the dangers of online things like this. I don't have a daughter, but I would certainly show her news articles like this along with that 12 yr old girl who was killed linked to myspace. EDUCATION is paramount and then from there, we have to hope that our children, who seem to be growing up sooner than their age will make the right choices. I also agree that privacy is earned and education along with supervision is needed at the younger age. A big problem now a days is that some parents are trying to be younger and are only wrapped up in their own life styles...and our children mimic them. what ever happened to June Cleaver?? LOL

A big problem now a days is that some parents are trying to be younger and are only wrapped up in their own life styles...and our children mimic them. what ever happened to June Cleaver?? LOL I happen to know that the house layout may have had alot to do with this happening and the victim has been on the honor roll several times. She was also made aware consistantly that there were predators out there, from a very young age, and what could ,and does, happen to children (INCLUDING BEING KILLED). The parents are very strict and kept a close eye on their children, yet this happened. Also, the parents are not overgrown teenagers, they have a solid relationship and always try to do the best for their children. They give them alot of things (but will take them away for punishment if needed). If thier kids mimiced them they would turn out to fine people. Also, they are very active in the church with their children, very acvtive. For all of you out there who think this could not happen to your children I have two words, YOUR WRONG. I think the biggest thing is to learn how to lock up your computer. The second thing is something you have no control of: peer pressure. I happen to know that there is at least one of the victims friends, 13, the parents let her have sex with her boyfriend at their home!!! What a couple of MORONS!!!(Wait till this bud 'bloomes'). Although the victim should have enough common sense not to fall into this, I'm sure that the vitim's friend rubbed it in her face (how cool she and her parents are....NOT). Cool is not the right word for it; S___ and Wh___ fit it better. Oh, June Cleaver never had to deal with stuff like this, she would surly off herself.
