The City of Menifee is preparing to get more tough on code enforcement violators, particularly with respect to increasing the economic development of the city.

Despite the presence of more than 100 parents, teachers and union officials at Tuesday's Menifee Union School Board meeting, the board agreed to reduce some of its bus routes, increase bus fees, add up to 12 furlough days and cut several positions.

Students in rural and outlying areas of the Menifee Union School District would continue to be offered busing in 2012-13 under a proposal being considered by the school board.

A former firefighter charged with raping his fiancee in 2009 in Murrieta must also stand trial for the alleged sexual abuse of two young children related to his ex-wife, a Riverside County judge ruled today.
