The River Valley baseball team struck first, but visiting Fairland struck more often Monday night during a 9-4 decision in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup in Gallia County.

Earlier this month, authorities from Scioto and Lawrence Counties identified a man suspected of robbing Charter One Bank in Wheelersburg on April 5 and of robbing the US Bank location in Proctorville April 8. On Wednesday, the search for that man ended when authorities located Elvis P. Kerns, 34, of Wheelersburg in Texas and arrested him.
