After a year without much activity, the task force's annual meeting on Tuesday attracted an attendance of more than 50 people.

A white supremacist who ran a long-shot campaign for sheriff in Idaho was trailing far behind his incumbent opponent late on Tuesday, according to early returns in the three-way race for the Republican nomination.

Republicans seem to be in contests to see how far right they can go. In Latah County, the GOP is a bit more level-headed compared to those in northern and eastern Idaho.

But this morning's Coeur d'Alene Press reports that Bonner County sheriff candidate Shaun Winkle r hosted a cross burning on May 4. Winkler and his fellow members of the Ku Klux Klan burned the cross on Winkler's property just outside of Priest River in Idaho's Panhandle.
