Prescott Valley four-day workweek begins Nov. 1

A four-day workweek and other measures to cut employee costs will go into effect by Nov. 1 for town government. The Town Council voted unanimously this past Thursday to approve recommendations from a committee of employees to achieve Town Manager Larry Tarkowski's goal of cutting employee costs by 5 percent.

Prescott Valley switching to 4-day workweek

Most operations in the Civic Center will switch to a four-day workweek beginning Nov. 2 to coincide with a 5 percent cut in salary and wage costs for town employees. The Town Council approved the four-day workweek this past Thursday because revenues from construction sales taxes continue to decline when compared with figures from previous years. Prescott Valley man gets 18 years for child abuse

Judge Thomas Lindberg of the Yavapai County Superior Court sentenced a Prescott Valley man to 18 years in prison Monday after a baby left in his care bled from his nose and mouth and had skull fractures. A jury found Vaughn Miles Denz, 24, guilty of child abuse and aggravated assault on Sept. 19.

Two Bradshaw Mountain High School students OK after overdose

One high school student remains in the hospital and another was hospitalized and released after they both overdosed on another person's prescription muscle relaxant on campus. A teacher at Bradshaw Mountain High School's west campus thought a 14-year-old student was having a seizure on Thursday at 8:10 a.m. since he was drooling heavily and was not responsive.
