Achieve Academy officially closes its doors
Tuesday, June 30, was the official closing of the Yavapai County Fair Association Achieve Academy.
The YCFA Achieve Academy Governing Board voted June 4 to close the school after eight years of operation.

Little League Baseball District 10 All Star tournaments began June 22, 2009, in several locations. The 9/10-year-olds played in Prescott Valley, with pictures of the Dewey-Humboldt All Star team and the Prescott Valley All Star team here. PV All Stars won the tourney and advance to State action. Rumors of Yavapai Downs track closing untrue, GM says
Persistent rumors that Yavapai Downs won't reopen for horse racing after the Independence Day weekend break because of money issues are just rumors, Yavapai County Fair Association General Manager Gary Spiker said.

Prescott and Prescott Valley plan July 4 festivities
Prescott Valley will conduct its own show at about 9 p.m. at Mountain Valley Park, 8600 E. Nace Lane.
Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation Director Brian Witty said the town plans to kick off its event at 6 p.m., with music from local band, Sky Daddy and the Pop Rockets. The band will play until about 9 p.m., when the fireworks will take center stage.
