Dog attacks owner, woman in hospital with severe injuries
A Rottweiler named Zeus attacked its owner Monday night, sending the Pottsville woman into a regional intensive care unit with severe leg injuries, according to city and hospital officials. The owner, Shannon Reed, 25, of 423 E. Market St., was in critical condition at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Allentown, according to a hospital spokeswoman on duty about 9 p.m. Tuesday. The dog, which has been euthanized, had a record with state officials — he bit an 18-year-old woman in New Philadelphia on June 7, State Dog Warden Francis J. Cremia, Pottsville, said. Cremia put Zeus on quarantine, or house arrest, for 10 days.
