A Poinciana teenager was arrested for burglary after he was recognized while breaking into a Glade Court home in Poinciana Saturday afternoon, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office reported.
Poinciana Residents Call for Incorporation Referendum
POINCIANA, FLORIDA | Poinciana residents should have the right to hold a referendum in November 2010 to decide their future, a group of residents said at a news conference Friday. According to Manny Rodriguez, if Poinciana incorporates, it will become "the biggest city in Osceola County, outgrowing Kissimmee; and the second largest in Polk County, right behind Lakeland." So what's stopping this bedroom community of Orlando from becoming its own city?
"Its residents." said Manny, "Most of the residents of Poinciana are unaware" that a delegation of legislators will be coming into town on Tuesday, October 27th, at Liberty High School, located at 4250 Pleasant Hill Road, which is next to Lowe's. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. To help get the word out to those who support representative democracy, Manny created a campaign under the theme:
Poinciana United.For the majority of the time that the issue of incorporation was being studied, residents clashed on racial and class issues, pitting, for example, residents of an over-50 community named Solivita against Poinciana villages adjacent to this high-end, golf community. "Poinciana is facing a tremendous crisis, and now for the first time since its development, we get the opportunity to organize," he added, "You dont have to agree with incorporation, but you have the right to decide on the issue."
