Avery County's 100 Days of Summer
Avery County, the 100th, and last, county to form in North Carolina, celebrates its 100th birthday this summer with a variety of events ranging from festivals and tea parties to photography contests and parades.
The 1989 Hollywood production of 'Winter People,' filmed almost entirely in Avery County, will be shown at the Watauga County Library on Wednesday, May 25, at 7 p.m. The showing is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
